This a great time to join Dubbo Regional Council as they embark on an expansive regional development program over the coming years. Council is seeking a candidate who is an experienced Strategic Planner or a Planner who is looking to develop their career in a supportive and progressive organisation.
The Dubbo region is a fast-growing inland hub in New South Wales presenting an opportunity to contribute to the development of Dubbo's new town centre, creative housing solutions and Smart Region Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review strategic land use strategies and policies to guide the further sustainable growth and development of the Dubbo region.
- Provide advice on the interpretation of strategic land use policies, Local Environmental Plans and Development Control Plans.
- Provide advice on Statutory Planning matters.
- Participate in pre-lodgement meetings.
- Ensure proactive communication, education and engagement with developers, builders, consultants, the real estate industry and the wider community with the objective of facilitating the continuing sustainable development of the region.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Geography or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within Local or State Government or private sector entity.
- Understanding of planning legislation relevant to strategic planning.
- Confident and professional communicator with the ability to interact with a broad range of stakeholders.
