The new Mayor Cr Julie Hall and the Council of the Whitsunday Regional Council are seeking a Chief Executive for the council organisation in preparation for the retirement of their current CEO.
The Mayor and Council will welcome a new Chief Executive who will embrace the CEO role as a leader in the council and the community, and bring expertise in local government leadership to the organisation and council chamber.
Cr Hall's recent election was won on a platform of improving the representation, engagement and consideration of the community's needs in the decisions and actions of the elected member group and council organisation.
Executives who have very strong experience in community engagement-led strategy, planning and service delivery will be well regarded in this recruitment process.
The Council will also ask their new CEO to focus on the broad themes of:
- The sustainable forward progression of the community and economy of the Whitsunday Region.
- Continued focus on organisational performance, efficiency, effectiveness, teamwork.
- Application of commercial rigour to the council's businesses, ensuring that they offer value and are well run and profitable.
The council is seeking a CEO who models ethics, integrity, personal accountability, is personable and has outstanding communication skills and is able to manage in the role with calmness, humour and a high focus on achievement.
The Whitsunday region is home to one of the world's seven natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef and the magnificent 74 Whitsunday Islands. However, the Whitsunday Region is so much more than just a coral coast wonder, boasting substantial national parkland, ancient rainforests and exotic wildlife, as well as a diverse landscape from lush cane fields to wide, open valleys, mountainous ranges and fertile agricultural pastures.
