Regional Waste Program Manager | CQROC | Central Queensland
Lead regional waste strategy across six Councils
Predominantly WFH position – monthly travel required
Contract to 1 July 2027 | $160K + super + travel and technology allowances
CQROC is seeking a Regional Waste Program Manager to lead the implementation of the Regional Waste and Resource Recovery Management Plan – Central Queensland.
This is a unique opportunity to shape sustainable waste and resource recovery outcomes across six member councils: Banana, Central Highlands, Gladstone, Livingstone, Rockhampton and Woorabinda. Reporting to the Executive Officer, you will drive regional collaboration, coordinate funded initiatives and align delivery with Queensland’s Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy targets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead implementation of the Regional Waste and Resource Recovery Management Plan.
Coordinate the Regional Waste and Resource Recovery Working Group, including secretariat support and forward work programs.
Oversee risk and opportunity registers and deliver high-quality reporting to councils and the Department of Environment and Science.
Drive priority projects from feasibility through to procurement, contract management and delivery.
Identify and secure State, Federal and private sector funding pathways.
Prepare business cases and support regional endorsement and investment processes.
About You
Tertiary qualifications in waste management, environmental science or engineering, project management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience in project delivery within complex stakeholder environments.
Strong capability in procurement and contract management.
Proven ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders across government and industry.
Experience providing high-level policy advice and strategic reporting.
This role is primarily work from home, with regular monthly travel across the Central Queensland region. The successful candidate must reside within the member council region.
