Job Description

Manager Financial Planning and Analysis | Tamworth Regional Council | Tamworth

· Newly created, green slate role
· Unique position rarely offered in local government organisations.
· Base salary of $135 - $160k with flexible working arrangements available.

Tamworth Regional Council is seeking a Manager Financial Planning and Analysis to play a key role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer by developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with the Long Term Financial Plan and future Integrated Planning & Reporting. This role involves engaging with stakeholders to promote investment, evaluating proposals, negotiating contracts and enhancing asset performance. The Manager Financial Planning and Analysis is critical to ensuring financial sustainability and continuous growth in delivering vital community services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Strategic Financial Advice to the Council’s executive and management teams.

  • Analysis of the financial performance of the Council’s Services and Assets, providing rigour to Council’s decision-making.

  • Provide strategy, analysis and leadership to the Council’s economic development function.

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Economic Development Team, balancing financial foundations with economic development activities.

  • Engage with businesses and authorities to promote investment in Tamworth, evaluate proposals and negotiate contracts.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Tertiary Education in Finance, Business, Accounting, or similar discipline

  • Recognised Industry Qualification

  • Excellent relationship building and people engagement ability

  • Adept financial modelling skillset

  • High-level verbal and written communication skills with an ability to effectively report to high-level stakeholders
