About the Role
In this high-impact role, you’ll lead city-wide policy development, advocacy and strategic communications to elevate Hobart’s role on national and global platforms. Reporting to the CEO and working within the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), you’ll advance initiatives that address critical community needs, sustainability goals and climate action.
This role leads a comprehensive portfolio, including the Office of the CEO, Office of the Lord Mayor, Communications, Climate Change initiatives and International Relations, all while enhancing Hobart’s profile as a forward-thinking city.
Your expertise will be crucial in developing evidence-based policies, creating sustainable partnerships and engaging in proactive government relations. This is a unique opportunity to act as a central advocate for Hobart, navigating complex political landscapes to promote Hobart’s vision of a sustainable, community-oriented city.
What You’ll Achieve
Influence Policy and Drive Advocacy: Shape strategic policies that advance Hobart’s goals, advocating for initiatives that align with our vision of sustainability and resilience.
Strengthen Government and Stakeholder Relations: Establish Hobart as a key voice through engagement with state and federal agencies, positioning the city as a leader in urban innovation and climate policy.
Lead Strategic Communication and Engagement: Oversee public and media relations to amplify Hobart’s profile, ensuring transparent, community-centred dialogue on city initiatives.

You are adept at influencing policy agendas, building coalitions and aligning diverse stakeholders to shared objectives.
