The Water & Wastewater Overseer is a key leadership role within Burdekin Shire Councils Water and Wastewater operations team. This position provides high quality management of council's water and wastewater reticulation assets, operational team and capital works projects.

Position Opportunities and Challenges:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Water and Wastewater construction and maintenance teams.
  • Continue to develop innovative and practical solutions to water and wastewater management processes and strategies.
  • Drive a work culture of high performance and customer service.
  • Work with a progressive organisation, overseeing a broad range of capital works projects.
  • Continuous development of operational staff's technical capabilities regarding skills, developing technologies and equipment.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, leading and managing operational teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, function and operation of Drinking Water Quality Management Plans.
  • Extensive experience in potable water and wastewater network operations.
  • Diploma in Water Industry Operations or a recognised qualification in mechanical or civil engineering, civil construction, project management or business.
  • Possess a strong customer service ethos - ability to influence, network, negotiate, counsel and mediate.
