Principal Development Engineer | Mackay Regional Council | Mackay, Qld
- Lead and coach a team of development engineers and construction inspectors
- Provide engineering advice and assessment of development applications
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement
Mackay Regional Council is seeking an experienced and proactive engineering professional to lead a technical team that undertakes the assessment of the engineering components of complex and regionally significant development applications.
Reporting to the Coordinator Development Planning and Engineering, the Principal Development Engineer manages the team that undertakes engineering assessments of development applications received by the council, ensuring the process is timely and development in the region complies with engineering planning standards, council policies and statutory requirements. The Principal Development Engineer also oversees Construction Inspectors ensuring that new assets are constructed in accordance with Council's construction standards and specifications.

Qualifications, skills, and experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with RPEQ (desirable).
- Highly developed skills overseeing complex engineering proposals including roads, stormwater drainage and urban infrastructure projects.
- Team leadership experience, highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.
- Manage time effectively, adapt to changing priorities and schedule resources.
