Job Description

Infrastructure Assets Manager | Hinchinbrook Shire Council - North Queensland

  • Provide leadership and build team capacity
  • Play a key role in the management of community assets
  • Lead a technical team in providing quality outcomes for council and the community

Leading Roles is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the Hinchinbrook Shire Council's Infrastructure Asset Management team.

The role is responsible for leading the design team to drive forward works planning and design for the delivery of council's capital programmes and projects. The role is also responsible for driving and maintaining detailed asset management data and forecasting along with GIS services within Council.

Opportunities:

  • There is an opportunity to implement improved asset renewal planning, scoping, design and budgeting practices for current and future capital works.
  • The role is pivotal to the Asset Management of Council and gives broad opportunity to implement change both within the organisation and the community.

Challenges:

  • Resourcing in the design team has been a challenge and requires a leader who will provide guidance and reassurance to the team.
  • Hinchinbrook is located in Queensland's tropics, and there is a significant disaster management element in this role. Managing community expectations in the coordination of disaster management and disaster recovery events can be challenging.

Skills and Personal Attributes Required:

  • Civil Engineering Qualification and experience in a similar role
  • RPEQ Qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Strong asset management knowledge and experience
  • Technical knowledge of roads and drainage design processes, the ability to guide, review and sign off on construction plans predominantly to do with road and stormwater infrastructure projects
  • High-level understanding of design and ability to drive a briefing on capital works project outcomes
  • An engaging, genuine communicator willing to drive effective community consultation to contribute to design input processes
  • A leader, with the ability to support and develop inexperienced team members.
