The North Burnett Regional Council is seeking people-focused corporate services leader for the organisation's next General Manager Corporate and Community Services.

Change and organisational performance improvement are on the agenda, and it's a great time to be involved in a progressive, proactive and innovation-focused region.

The Mayor, Council and CEO have high expectations for this position and the General Manager will have a key role in positioning North Burnett as a formidable, influential organisation that is transitioning from surviving to thriving.

There are unique challenges in this role which include financial constraints, a geographically distributed workforce, and regional economic performance and community sustainability.

Organisational Contribution

The General Manager Community and Corporate will be a leader in providing the foundations for the success of the organisation through structured engagement with the communities of the North Burnett and shaping and delivering fit-for-purpose strategy and plans for a successful, sustainable organisation.

Team Development

The portfolio is broad, and there are significant opportunities to build cohesion, strengthen collaboration, improve performance and break down silos within the team.

People leadership is key, and the organisation will respond to a leader who can connect the goals and strategy, and community outcomes of the organisation to the day to day activities of the council's teams and individual staff.

Operational Management

Council is a highly financially constrained organisation and is critical that candidates demonstrate experience in finding business efficiencies and expenditure savings through business process improvement and change management.

Living in the North Burnett

The North Burnett community is a rural regional community, and applicants who have an understanding, experience and a love of living and working in regional communities will be welcome.

The North Burnett Region covers 19,708 square kilometres with the topography of the region being diverse from fertile farmland to rugged geographical formations.

As a local government in a large regional area, Council offers an exciting lifestyle and challenging career opportunities. Surrounded by natural beauty, the North Burnett Region offers a relaxed and rural lifestyle with low cost of living and easy access to essential services. Geographically advantaged, the region is within easy driving times to the cities of Brisbane, Rockhampton, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg.
