The Executive Manager of Open Space and Environment will take a leading role in the Fraser Coast Regional Council, delivering Open Space programs and initiatives and promoting sustainable environmental management principles in the Council and the community.
The Executive Manager will make a visible contribution to the community in the management, planning and creation of public spaces and places, parks and open spaces in the Fraser Coast Region.
The Executive Manager will champion the protection of the natural environment with a focus on biodiversity protection and sustainable planning and development. The role leads the development of environmental management policies that ensure sustainability is embedded into Council's work culture and practices. The Executive Manager will lead programmes that will build capacity in the community to care for the environment.
As this is an Executive Management position, Council are seeking a manager who has both strong strategic and delivery management skills.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop and implement Open Space programs including review of Parks Hierarchies;
- Promote sustainable environmental management principles to the community and the Council;
- Develop strategic policy for open space and environmental management; and
- Build partnerships with other Council departments to facilitate opportunities for projects and to enhance business outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree qualification in Urban or Amenity Horticulture, Park Management, Environmental Management, planning, landscape design or similar discipline or 10+ years' experience in a Leadership/Management position.
