Director of Strategic Partnerships | Burke Shire Council
Strategic Partnerships and Advocacy: Build high-impact partnerships that create lasting change.
Political & External Engagement: advance the council’s strategic interests.
Location: Brisbane or Cairns or negotiated location (with travel to the Burke Shire)
Salary: $210,000 + potential allowances

Burke Shire Council is looking for a Director of Strategic Partnerships to help guide the sustainable development of our shire by generating partnership initiatives.

This pivotal role involves fostering relationships with government and regional stakeholders and driving strategic initiatives that support the council’s long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain relationships with State and Federal departments, Ministers, and Regional Councils to advance Burke Shire’s interests.
Advocate for policy changes that benefit the council and its communities.
Strengthen regional collaboration, particularly in infrastructure and economic development directly affecting Burke Shire.
The position works closely with the CEO and Executive Management Team, to ensure alignment of external opportunities with operational and strategic goals.
Focus Areas:
Housing and Community Projects: Assist in the development and implementation of Strategic and Corporate projects -including housing to meet community needs.
Energy and tourism: Identify opportunities to promote long-term growth in these sectors.
Native Title and Joint Land Tenure: Navigate complex legislation to enable land use projects that contribute to the Shire’s long-term vision.
