Gympie Regional Council is now seeking an experienced infrastructure leader to drive performance improvement and culture change within the council's Infrastructure Services Directorate.​

The Position:

The Infrastructure Services Directorate incorporates the following functions:​

- Water and Wastewater.​
- Facilities and Parks.​
- Roads and Drainage.​
- Capital Delivery and Assets.​

There are 220 staff in the team, delivering a $67M Operational program (inc. depreciation) and a $32M Capital program. The Gympie region suffered substantial damage in the 2021/22 flooding event and the council is managing a $100M flood recovery program.

Opportunities and Challenges:

This Directorate is in a phase of rebuilding following a whole-of-organisation restructure project over the last two years. The organisation is now emerging from this period with a sustainable, customer-focused structure, investment in improved business systems and a renewed focus on culture, performance, sustainability, and outcomes. ​

The extent of the change project at Gympie has been enormous, and the organisation is seeking a Director with strong technical skills and a high focus on building culture, capability and a stable, sustainable and high-performing team.​

The Gympie Region:

The Gympie Region is about 90 minutes north of Brisbane, is bordered by the Sunshine Coast and Hervey Bay and is centred on the town of Gympie. The Gympie Region covers an area of 6,898 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 53,851 residents.
