Job Description

Chief Executive Officer – Tablelands Regional Council – Atherton

  • Drive strategic growth and enhance organisational culture at TRC.

  • Lead major infrastructure projects to shape the region’s future.

  • Engage with community and stakeholders to advance TRC’s objectives.

The Opportunity

Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) seeks an experienced and forward-thinking leader to join as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a transformative role for a strategic and community-focused executive ready to lead TRC through an ambitious phase of growth, cultural revitalisation and significant infrastructure projects that will shape the region’s future.

Role Overview

  • Strategic Leadership & Organisational Culture

As CEO, you will oversee a high-performing executive team, fostering an organisational culture of pride, accountability and community service. TRC aims to be a preferred employer, empowering staff to grow professionally and ensuring Council values resonate throughout the organisation. The CEO will lead cultural enhancements that promote excellent customer service, efficient processes and a commitment to delivering high standards across all levels.

  • Community Engagement & Visibility

A critical component of this role is deepening TRC’s relationship with the community. The CEO will participate in monthly engagement initiatives alongside the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, strengthening community ties and ensuring Council services align with residents’ priorities. The CEO’s presence within the community is essential to maintaining a responsive, transparent and accessible Council.

  • Financial Stewardship & Infrastructure Oversight

Financial sustainability is central to this role, and the CEO will manage complex operational and capital budgets to maintain TRC’s stability. With several major projects underway, including the Priors Creek Precinct Development, Atherton Forest Mountain Bike Park and key water infrastructure upgrades, the CEO will ensure these initiatives are completed within budget and aligned with Council’s strategic objectives.

  • Advocacy & Stakeholder Relations

The CEO will build strong relationships with government officials, securing resources to advance TRC’s objectives. Collaboration with local businesses, industry groups and government agencies will also be key to elevating TRC’s advocacy efforts and enhancing the region’s profile.

This is a compelling opportunity to lead a forward-focused regional community. If you’re ready to lead with vision, integrity, and a commitment to community service, we encourage you to apply.
