Job Description
The Mayor and Council of the Whitsunday Regional Council are seeking a Chief Executive to lead the organisation by example and engage, inspire, and empower performance in the organisation. This is a full-time four-year executive contract position.
Some of the key opportunities and challenges for the CEO in shaping a high performing, customer focused organisation will be:
- Continued organisational performance improvement and a high focus on customer service;
- Facilitation of best practice outcomes for the community through the provision of rigorous and well researched advice to Council;
- Providing expert support to Council's advocacy for the major economic and community development initiatives; and
- Oversight of the delivery of major capital projects in the region.
Council employs approximately 420 staff and has a current year budget of $180M.The council serves a community of 32000, located in the major community centres of Bowen, Proserpine, Cannonvale, Collinsville and Airlie Beach.
Experience and success in a senior executive role is essential and the Council will give preference to candidates who have executive leadership experience within a local government organisation.
The Whitsunday Regional Council is located in one of Queensland's key tourism, agriculture and trade regions, with key assets including Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands, a thriving horticultural sector, and significant trade infrastructure including the Abbot Point coal terminal, the Whitsunday Airport and national rail and road transport links.
