Job Description

Paroo Shire Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Chief Corporate Officer to proactively drive change, develop innovative solutions and assist in guiding Council's sustainability into the future.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and as an integral part of Council's Leadership Team, the Chief Corporate Officer provides strategic leadership, guidance and support to the Corporate and Community Services Department to ensure that Council has an effective framework that promotes business excellence and complies with legislative requirements.

This position operates under limited direction and exercises a high degree of autonomy to make decisions and deliver the strategy and operations of the portfolio.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • A comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulations, standards and guidelines applicable to Local Government;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Highly developed written communication skills; and
  • Degree qualifications in a relevant discipline applicable to the role.

Located in South West Queensland, Paroo Shire covers an area of 47,727 km2 and encompasses the towns of Cunnamulla, Eulo, Yowah, Wyandra and their surrounds. The population of the shire is approximately 1860.
