The Principal Commercial Development has a leading role within the Toowoomba Regional Council to attract and stimulate commercial activity specifically in the CBD and the Parklands Priority Development Area (PDA). The key focus is to realise specific outcomes of the Toowoomba City Centre Master Plan (CCMP) and Toowoomba Parklands Priority Development Area (PDA) that support urban renewal and business growth.
You will have hands on involvement in strategic policy development, marketing and promotion, market research and analysis and place based economic development activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategy - investment strategy realisation. Doing a complete review of the PDA. Examining barrier removal;
- Having a policy and strategy mindset;
- Promoting the region, the benefits of Council's assets and benefits of urban renewal; and
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders - facilitating the Council's urban renewal strategy, influencing and marketing.
You will have a strong commercial background and ideally have worked on urban renewal projects. You will have tertiary qualifications in Business, Economics, Engineering, Urban Planning, Valuation, Property, Commerce or a related discipline from a recognised university with extensive (5 years +) relevant experience in facilitating business and economic development outcomes.
The Toowoomba region is currently going through a significant period of development, with major infrastructure projects like the Second Range Crossing and the Inland Rail project creating great opportunity.
