Alice Springs Town Council is entering its next phase of organisational maturity, following a period of substantial internal reform. Systems, structure and cultural foundations have been reset, creating a platform for improved performance and service delivery.

Council now seeks a Chief Executive Officer to consolidate this progress and lead the organisation through a critical phase of execution, alignment and refinement. Reporting to the Mayor and Elected Members, the CEO will be responsible for embedding operational discipline, strengthening leadership capability and ensuring consistent delivery across all service areas.

Key priorities include building a cohesive, enterprise-focused executive team, and continuing the organisation’s cultural uplift. The role will also drive improvements in customer experience, moving toward a more integrated and consistent service model for the community.

Operating within a politically diverse environment, the CEO will demonstrate sound judgement, resilience and the ability to maintain focus on Council’s strategic and operational priorities. Strong stakeholder engagement capability will be essential, along with the capacity to balance community expectations with financial and operational realities.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience leading complex organisations through periods of consolidation and delivery. A practical, outcomes-focused leadership style is critical, with the ability to manage underperformance, build trust and deliver results in a visible public leadership role. Experience in local government or a comparable public sector environment is highly regarded.
